Da ich ein kompromissloser Verfechter der Auteurtheorie bin, genügte es mir natürlich nicht, einfach nur den Theatrical Cut von EVILSPEAK zu gucken, ich hab mir den längeren Cut angesehen, den Anchor Bay damals auf DVD presste. Erkennbar sind die 'neuen' Szenen an der schlechteren Qualität und erkennbar ist auch, weswegen man sie entfernte. Mehr als länger durch die Gegend latschen und Clint Howard beim leiden zuschauen wurd eigentlich nicht geboten.

Und was der leidet...man man man. Carrie White und Dawn Wiener haben ausgeglichene Lebensläufe ggü. dem, was seine Figur hier durchmachen muss. Eine gute Einführung, die einem den Schmerz und die Wut eines Protagonisten erfahrbar werden lässt, ist ja nie verkehrt. Wenn das aber locker über eine Stunde so geht, wird das irgendwann redundant und öde. So auch hier. Irgendwann war ich Howards Figur derart überdrüssig, dass mir sein Schicksal doch etwas egal zu werden drohte. Als seine Peiniger dann aber eine DER unverzeihlichen Filmtaten begehen, kommt es wieder auf die Spur und hübsches Gekröse gegen Ende versöhnt einen etwas.

Alles in allem aber zu lang, wohl auch in der Theatrical Version, und zu wenig wirklich interessantes bietend um wirklich gut zu sein.

i love when i come across films from the 1980s that i’ve never seen or heard about it’s like a reward for me because if there’s one thing the 80s were gonna do it’s do a good job at making films about some outcast in their school getting abused/bullied and them eventually hitting their breaking point and inflicting that same pain on their bullies/abusers like sure this plot has been done numerous of times but each time it’s a bit different and im always gonna eat it up and this film did such a great job at it because the whole church sequence at the end reminded me so much of the the black prom sequence from carrie like just seeing the victim of the film take out all of his anger and pain onto the men who were being such complete douchebags the entire film was so pleasuring to me especially in the way he was killing them like he had literal pigs just go and rip each of them apart like bro was NOT fucking around also i never understood the whole point in bullying like are you really that insecure and miserable with your life that you gotta go and take it out on some innocent person like get a hobby or better yet go see some sort of therapist about your problems!
