During the summer of 1981, a group of friends in New York are completely unprepared for the onslaught of AIDS. What starts as a rumor about a mysterious "gay cancer" soon turns into a major crisis as, one by one, some of the friends begin to fall ill, leaving the others to panic about who will be next. As death takes its toll, the lives of these friends are forever redefined by an unconditional display of love, hope and courage.

Wonderfully sad movie about the aids epidemic. The acting is great and the fun aspect of the characters really shines through all of the sad themes. Good film. Fascinating.

By necessity I watched this on such a low resolution that I was sure I wouldn’t recognise any of the actors even if they were well known. Turns out Tony Shalhoub from Monk is the most recognisable person known to man. He could be a blur on the horizon and I’d still be like “Hey, that’s Tony Shalhoub from Monk.”
