As anyone can suspect from a Tennessee William's play, the film is driven by dialogue. Steamy dialogue! Censors must have had a fun time with this one. Although the film is tame by today's standards, might actually be palatable for modern audiences (if the men in this weren't such creeps)! Outstanding acting and precise direction compliment film!
Sequences go on for too long, Archie disappears for a solid 40 minutes! Pretty strong southern accents, at one point, I thought Eli Wallach said, "he's gonna put his chin up my butt." A little extreme for 1956, but film also contains a lot of racial epithets. Well, actually, maybe not that extreme for 1956. Stay safe, everyone!
