"Mad" Mary McArdle returns to Drogheda after a short spell in prison for something she'd rather forget. Back home, everything and everyone has changed. Her best friend, Charlene, is about to get married and Mary is maid of honor. When Charlene refuses Mary a 'plus one' on the grounds that she probably couldn't find a date, Mary becomes determined to prove her wrong.

A Date for Mad Mary
Still rules! Seana Kerslake is phenomenally charismatic, creates such a great portrayal of a certain type of Irish character you rarely see given this much depth on screen. Lovely and compassionate filmmaking. Also has that great thing where you can tell someone who actually likes movies wrote it, with references to John Carter, Ella Enchanted and an entire scene where she's dressed as Stellan Skarsgard in Mamma Mia
