I love weird, quirky animation with a bizarre sense of humor, and A Town Called Panic fills that criteria to a tee. Reminiscent of stop-motion classics like Wallace and Gromit, the rough animation brings a playful mobility to the characters and world. Each character looks and behaves like a plastic figurine, something that is used to a great comedic effect as the setpieces get increasingly more ridiculous. It almost feels like you're watching a child play with these plastic toys, throwing all of the pieces from the toybox onto the floor and just having a blast. That's where this film excels the most. It feels like it only scratches the surface of its crazy potential, but what's there will provide more than enough animated insanity for the audience.
