I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT ENDING FOR KELLY AND KATSUMI !

He did all that to get the girl and then once she cries in front of him, asks for forgiveness for rejecting him before, it’s like he stopped being as interested. I also wanted a love story between the other woman and the Japanese guy. I forgot everyone’s name tbh. Also, why would Kelly marry Katsumi if he knew she couldn’t go to America and he could get transferred. 

(I’m still watching)

One of Marlon Brando’s lesser known works, Sayonara tackles truly important issues such as xenophobia, love and sacrifice, and does so without falling into parody territory.

This movie is clearly a product of its time, and should be viewed as such. Debating its issues through today’s lenses is a disservice to a a great piece of cinema.
