Well, that wasn’t quite what I was expecting but wow.
All I knew is that it took place during Halloween so of course I would put it on my watchlist for the month. Well it is a good watch for the season with decorations and costumes galore in here, the atmosphere is right. But if you’re expecting horror you will be disappointed. There’s a few bits where it can be a little scary but this is much more of a coming of age drama with some supernatural elements. And wow is it heavy! This isn’t going to make you want to check over your shoulder, but make you want to call your friends and tell them how much you love them!
And this is a period piece taking place in the 90s and it does a good job with that. In fact I gotta say I loved the needle drops in here! Some familiar tunes you may recognize if you grew up in that era (love the use of Rammstein’s Engel!) and even some deep cuts, like a nice Gary Numan tune! But a very haunting use of Live’s Lightning Crashes I must say! A song that already is haunting enough but wow, A+ for whoever decided to use it in the scene they used!
Overall good watch, but I may not make this a new October time staple because shit is it sooo depressing! Yeah this is gonna stick with me for a while
