this was playing on tv so i watched it, first movie of 2025, my goal is to watch at least one movie each day of the year⋆. 𐙚 ˚

Musical numbers are ultimate camp - everything else was surprisingly boring.

Grease is my #1 favourite musical and to have both writers attached to this seemed like a dream. Unsurprisingly the worst thing about this wasn't it's script. It was it's pacing. The scenes showing how each member of the Village People gets along with eachother and has funny personality quirks were deleted. Insted, there were songs borrowing into your skull like worms, repeating the same lines over and over and over. Before and after the extended music videoes follows the lives of the manager of the group, his friend, and his friends new boyfriend. The Village People are around but don't talk much.

I laughed extremely hard multiple times but other times I was genuinely bored. This reminds me of Zeroville being a funny bad movie but not consistently funny. I had this on my watchlist forever and finally watching because of letterboxd watchlist recommendations was so cool.
