Dr. Paul Carruthers is frustrated because he thinks his employers, Mary Heath and Henry Morton, have cheated him out of the company's profits. He decides to get revenge by altering bats to grow twice their normal size and training them to attack when they smell a perfume of his own making. He mixes the perfume into a lotion, which he offers as a gift to Mary and Henry. When they turn up dead, a newspaper reporter decides to investigate.

A horror for every year of this century #16
I AM SO ENDEARED BY THE HUMONGOUS BAT. I don’t care if he’s evil

The bat inaccuracies in this were infuriating but seeing that bat emerge from the trunk of the car made me laugh way harder than it should of.
Just some of the bat inaccuracies are:
- a fruit bat is used for close up shots even though these are supposed to be blood drinking bats -the bats flight is clearly modelled after a bird despite the vastly different flight patterns -the bat screams and makes a lot of noise throughout the film despite bats echolocation being beyond the human range and chattering usually only occurs in nursery roosts -the bats size is remarked upon despite being smaller than some breeds of fruit bat
