all the aspects that, at first, made me think I was going to watch an average movie with a low budget - the odd fade outs, the fate of some characters that are clear from the start - actually played in favour of the film at the end. this movie doesn't care about being "emotional" nor does it aim to. where a hollywood production would have spent more time exploring and playing on the love story, here it only serves the purpose of hightening the audience's repulsion for the army and the state. same for the "good apple" soldier, a big budget american flilm would have emphasised that "see, some soldiers were on the good side !", here it repulses us more. this movie goes straight to the point, no background - it starts on the day of the massacre - and the children of men-esque camera work puts us in the middle of the action, and the killing. sickening all the way through
