I spent the whole film thinking it was about fitting in, then realised it's more about how lonely it is to perform a version of yourself that everyone else is comfortable with. i really liked that it never felt preachy or overly dramatic; it just let its characters be awkward, kind, and human. maybe the real rebellion was choosing softness in a place that rewarded anything but.
