These "documentarians" really love getting intimate shots of dead carcasses' assholes. Or the dissection of wombs, which feels confusing when being presented with “truth.” Speaking of COD lobbies, the aforementioned racism is embedded within the visual setpieces. It’s kinda pointless to watch the Italian version, but I would choose that one over the American version because the American narration is patronizing and snide. For instance, one scene restaged a fox hunt, where the fox is an African tribesman chased by white men on horseback. Somehow, these guys believe it’s all revelation. They document cruelty without interrogating the "gaze" that otherizes humans. Sunsets are framed like spiritual punctuation marks, as if beauty can absolve what surrounds the shock value. So what? Anyone in real life can walk outside and experience a sunset.

What a horrific documentary. Absolutely bat-s*** crazy that some of those scenes were allowed to be aired but then again, it is the 60s.

I thought that I would watch another carnage from the iceberg of banned films, but no. This is a brilliant film by the documentarians.Everything in this work is at the highest level: the idea, the script, the issues raised, exclusive materials obtained at the risk of one’s life, camera work, editing, voice-over comments, music. The film cannot fail to touch a nerve. It makes you think about a lot of things

**This is a racist and exploitative snuff film but also holds major historical significance as it highlights footage of real events which has not been captured by anyone else. Animal cruelty, executions, riots and war is shown like it’s nothing and while certain events are probably staged, others are far too real. 

The end of the colonial era in Africa is one of the most disturbing times in recent history and the way the European rulers handled it is disgusting. From a modern perspective this is a great way to understand the consequences of imperialism and the underlying problems the continent of Africa faces till this day.

If you can stomach this type of thing I’d definitely recommend it. This is gory, racist propaganda but the footage is also very informative about historical events that usually is swept under the rug by western governments and media.
