Honestly one of the more underwhelming experiences I’ve had with a martial arts film. I found the idea of how the villain fought to be very ridiculous. There’s this whole thing about finding his weakness but him alone is such a weak antagonist and he’s just plain boring to watch.
This film doesn’t really build relationships that well as well as producing some empathy. I do like the segment on how he learns movement in kung fu from a woman and how he learns about acupuncture since it shows no matter how long we’ve lived there’s still a lot to learn even the simplest things.
Overall, this film is just not structured that good to create an engaging experience. It does nothing special with the over the top formula that Hong Kong martial arts films have constructed.
