Lost in Paris

I came in with high hopes for this as the trailer looked funny and it reminded me of Jacques Tati, my favourite director.

There's a couple light cuckles here and there but overall I was disappointed. It's like if someone tried to copy Jacques Tati and Wes Anderson at the same time, without being particularly funny or visually precise. It was just too twee for me - and I have a high tolerance for twee.

If you want a quirky yet heartfelt French slapstick comedy I much more recommend The Man In The Hat (2020), which I really liked and did this exact kind of film so much better.

if there's one scene that stood out to me in this film, was at the very end, when martha and dom and fiona sat at the top of the eiffel tower, and martha saying she's always wanted to climb to the top. then she closes her eyes.....

i don't know. i don't know what it is about aunts that live in paris but every one of them always seems to live such a full life, they're always free-spirited and have many dreams. i want to be that aunt, maybe
