In order to avoid another seemingly endless scroll-through of Hulu, I decided that an hour and a half of looking at a tattooed Sophie Turner wasn’t the worst choice I could make. Unfortunately, the tattoos weren’t that great and the entire movie that happened around them was even less great; in fact, it was actually very dull.
Nothing about this movie was unique or special, it was a pretty standard “revenge at the very last scene” Thriller with a pretty predictable twist. Honestly the reveal that Josie is actually 21 (rendering much of the plot null) and still in high school is a more interesting revelation than “you took part in the execution of my dad (who you’re convieniently having hallucinations about) a decade ago and I’m here to exact my revenge.”
99.7% of this movie is about a love triangle between (Wannabe Llewelyn Moss) Hank, (Unfortunately tattooed) Josie and (Even though all descriptions of this movie claim he’s Gator) Marcus. The only difference this movie has against every other love triangle story is that everyone assumes Josie is underage, no one in the film ever asks her actual age, they just assume that she is because she’s in high school. So it’s really just a run of the mill love triangle with the occasional, half assed: “Be careful running around with a young girl, Hank” from the neighbors.
I only watched this movie because of scrollers fatigue and the only expectation I had going in was that a tatted up Sophie Turner sounded hot(ter). Unfortunately my only expectation was not met and the rest of the movie kicked me while I was down by being so completely bland. Oh well, serves me right.
