Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in Peril

Only two more to go in the Lone Wolf and Cub series. …Baby Cart in Peril does so much story and character building, I can’t wait to see how this story concludes in the next two films.

You’re introduced to one of the coolest characters yet, Oyuki. Ogami and Daigoro are set to assassinate the topless swordstress, but the more you learn about her, the harder it is to root against her. She has the same effect on Ogami, making the mission harder than expected.

We finally get some backstory on how Ogami became the shogunate executioner and was eventually stripped of his title. It’s really interesting stuff, and it sets up incredible stakes for the end of the story. Everything involving Yagyū Gunbei is so good.

This is my favorite next to the first so far. Some people say it loses a little steam near the end, but if these last two are anywhere near the others, I know it’ll be just fine. There’s also a flaming sword in this one!

this movie is definitely my second favourite out of this series, i was a bit worried considering the last movie was a big fat fall off imo but this movie really got this back up to speed in how good it was. the director changed for this one and he came with a fucking banger. i really enjoyed this so much. oyuki was a fucking awesome character and i wish we could see her in more movies, her backstory was a good ass backstory for her character and it was rlly sad. her character was so badass tho and her ending was so tragic. ogumi was also great in this and it feels like he's actual had some character development in contrast to the last movie where i feel not a single ounce of character growth happened for anyone. daigoro at the start of this movie is one of the highlights of the series for me, the fact he's got them eyes at such a young age and he's already not afraid of death is actually so sad and i can't believe that a samurai actually tried to duel him that scene was funny icl. the story in this was actually really good, again it was ur average samurai assassin story but this one isn't standalone unlike the last 2. this actually connects to other movies with that ending and even just the characters in general as it feels they have a lot more to develop. the cinematography was great, the colours were fucking stunning especially. i really enjoyed the action in this, that last battle was so fun and intense. obviously it was unrealistic but this is based off a manga i don't expect realism, i expect some fun ass fights and that's exactly what i got. the soundtrack is probably at its best in this one, i rlly liked the song they used during oyukis fight in the hot spring it was a great song.

I get way too giddy watching people get chopped up in these movies. I know my six year old self would be proud as he watches Jaws for the 1000th time.
