The Batman will forever be a top 3 comic book movie of all time for me. From the flawless performances across the board, to Greig Fraser’s hauntingly gorgeous cinematography, to the brilliant storytelling crafted by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin—everything about this film is just perfect in my eyes. It’s one of those rare comic book movies that feels like a true cinematic experience every single time I revisit it.
I will always die on the hill that Robert Pattinson is the greatest Bruce Wayne/Batman. I know James Gunn’s DCU Batman will be awesome—no doubt about that—but what Pattinson does here is exactly what I’ve always wanted from the character. A Year Two Batman who is still learning, and slowly becoming the version of the Dark Knight we know from the comics. A Bruce Wayne who is distant and reclusive, slowly realizing that Gotham doesn’t just need Batman—it needs Bruce Wayne, too. A detective Batman who unravels mysteries instead of just punching his way through problems. And most importantly, a Batman who learns that vengeance isn’t the answer, and that hope is what truly inspires Gotham. For me, that’s perfect.
Every time I watch this masterpiece, I only get more excited for The Batman: Part II. Honestly, I don’t even care who Reeves chooses as the main villain because I know it’s going to be incredible no matter what. That being said… if it’s Hush or the Court of Owls, I might actually lose my mind. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
