An alien starship crashes in a swamp in a U.S. National Park. Some mosquitos begin to feed from the alien's corpses, causing them to grow to the size of a vulture. These mutant insects became very agressive, killing every human being they find. Will the few survivors fight successfully against this nightmare...?

Hooptober Neun: 31/35
2 insect centered films: 2/2
Was looking forward to this one quite a bit, so I’m saddened to say that it was a bit of a letdown.
The effects are fantastic. The practical Mosquitos look amazing and there even is a bit of stop-motion. There are some super cool kills too and all the creature scenes are fun.
Unfortunately, the film lacks a likable main characters and I didn’t really care for anyone. Everything that isn’t a Mosquito scene is not that interesting or engaging.
But it’s got Gunnar Hansen and they obviously had to give him a huge chainsaw and make him reference “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre”.
Honestly, this film should be more like “Ticks” the other insect horror film I watched this Hooptober. That one manages to have great creature fun and likable characters and is a ton of fun.
Anyways, “Mosquito” isn’t bad, but not as entertaining and great as I expected. Liked a lot of the ideas and approaches tho.

One of the deepest cuts in terms of horror movies I think I’ve ever watched. It’s cheaply made and has such a cheesiness. It was honestly pretty fun to watch even if it wasn’t amazing
