The issues I had with Tomboy also seem to apply to this film. I just don’t understand why cis people keep attempting to portray trans stories when they clearly don’t understand the inner workings. Sure, the film is gorgeous and the editing is so ahead of its time. Even it’s themes are advanced, but they fall on their face when the film becomes transfixed on surface level issues such as body modification and even the idea of becoming trans simply because you like someone of the same gender. Crazy how this film started off so strong and then just fell off so swiftly.
