aura lost :(

i absolutely loved the first two, punch way above its weight for me in this movie category. this series has never had the greatest pacing nor innovative plots, but that’s not what it’s there for, it is here for aura. most of the lines were groan worthy, too many people’s minds changed by one-liners, acting hurt a bit.

however you can generally count on it for some aura. unfortunately this one also fell short compared to its predecessors - nothing even remotely approached the hidden card escape scene from the 2nd movie. this movie was a 4 until the last 10 minutes, and then the resolution and explanation made me smile and go okay at least that was cute and clever.

they also tried the weird pass the torch to the next generation and introduce new teen characters? bro i came to see mark zuckerberg and haymitch, just like i came to see hawkeye. give me the old heads til the wheels fall off.

This was my first time watching any Now You See Me movie, and it really surprised me. The action scenes were amazing, especially how they used all the different rooms in the house it made everything feel creative and unpredictable. At one point it even had a little bit of that Fast Five heist feel, just a little. And the ending was very unexpected but brought everything together perfectly. Even without knowing the characters, the movie was fun, fast-paced, and easy to follow. It definitely makes me want to check out the older ones now.

Hm. Maybe I just can’t turn my brain off as much as I should but this was tough to sit through. Beyond the writing being remarkably lazy, there were issues with some of the sequences that simply went beyond my tolerances - items where the illusion would have been completely disrupted for the audience/victim of the tricks.

Put sessa in everything, but going forward it’s okay for him to not play the holdovers character in a different outfit. Justice smiths agent needs a raise and greenblatt was good as well. I felt fatigued by her playing a child again thinking she was the same age as the others (23,30) but she’s still literally an infant , so much future for her and talent at this age

Overall, remarkably corny but still light on its feet enough to not get bogged down. I’m okay handing over the keys and seeing how it goes because this is a mail in from woody and eisenberg needs to please stop playing some version of Zuck in every role - he was so good in a real pain!
