It falls short for what it wants to be. The sci-fi elements blended somewhat well with the dramatic thriller approach, but the style didn't do it for me.

I felt that the movie would have been better without the sci-fi stuff. I don’t really see it adding much to the story and it seemed like it would have been much more important based on the aesthetics the movie was going for.

It's not bad. It needs quite some time to get going, but it does it is rather good. Unfortunately it ends, when I began to like it. You could really see that KIN was made with the intention to make a sequel and this maybe bothers me the most, because it let's so many questions unanswered.
