Maybe it's me doing a marathon of these movies. Maybe it's me just being in the right mood or I just don't know. I didn't like this one when I watched it the first time. It was dumb and none of the cast from the classics returned. This time I had a fun time though. It's not good but it's just dumb enough for me to have some laughs.
Scary movie 5 primarily parodies mama, rise of the planet of the apes, evil dead 2013, black swan and paranormal activity. The story is a dumb but fun. Just like the others it mixes the parodies well enough but some are a bit odd here. The inception one was a bit out of place. I also liked how they and the story with mama. It was just dumb enough to work.
The characters are definitely a bit of a downgrade. Ashley French and Erica ash were the best part. They had a pretty funny black swan parody especially the sex scene. Never thought I would see furniture get lucky but I guess she was in the mood. Simon rex returns and his fine. His character did annoyed me quite a bit. The maid was pretty entertaining though especially with the pool cleaner party. Ceasar from planet of the apes was a highlight too. His narration at the end I couldn't agree more with.
The gags were not as good as the others but could still get some laughs. The best parody scene was the evil dead one. It was just so funny and it had me laughing. The pool cleaner party was good too. Ceasar in each scene he was in was hilarious. The mama parody was the primary one and I do like the little background gags with the girls. From the waterboarding too the puppy like ending. The gags definitely felt like more modern parody but still better than most in the 2000s.
Scary movie 5 is in simple terms. Very dumb and not good but fun at times. I get why it's the most disliked but I was surprised that I liked it more this time around. It's just the right amount of stupid.
