You know what, despite the blatant male gazey-ness of this film, I have to bump it an extra half star due to how much I really appreciate this film. On my first watch (late 2024, oh how I wish I had Letterboxd then,,) I rented it on YouTube and watched it on my phone … (I’m sorry Christopher Nolan please don’t come for my family)
Back then, the earliest film I had watched was Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, so this film was my first proper introduction to Classic Hollywood, and what an introduction it was! I got into Hitchcock as a director and James Stewart as an actor, leading me to discover some of my favourite films of all time!
I think if I was to tell you my favourite scene in the entire film, it would have to be the final scene, I won’t spoil it here but James Stewart and Kim Novak were absolutely amazing here, and the dolly zoom literally changed my life LOL
Overall I heavily recommend this film, one of Hitchcock’s best!!
