Really spellbinding work here, I've never seen a film use real-life documentary footage of a country in fire to inform the fictional characters' lives and motivations as radically and effectively as this one does. Here, the conventions of plot structure and development are less important, and the power of the image takes hold.

Holy shit this was good, i tend to usually steer clear of movies pre late 70’s but i’m so glad i put this into my watchlist, more to continue <3

Medium Cool is a film that explores fascinating and important themes and topics, but the movie as a whole just didn’t come together for me. The editing and use of documentary style footage didn’t work for me, the story didn’t really interest me past the halfway point, and I honestly just couldn’t tell you a single thing that happened. I wanted to love this, I just really struggled to connect with it. There were some things that I liked about it, such as the script, especially in the earlier portions of the movie, but I just found myself kind of bored past a certain point unfortunately.
