make love, not war. holy shit…i have never seen a film like this. brutal, real, and satirical because politics itself doesn’t take itself seriously. embedded in the underground swedish new wave scene, i am curious (yellow) is an absolute, iconic cinematic bad boy. it’s blend of politics and eroticism, further shown through deep questions, rawness, and gorgeous cinematography, creating an introspective, passionate film that’s crying for real-life support in return. the switchbacks from fiction to reality, and the randomly placed yet greatly timed humour, really had me thinking that the director behind this needed something to say through an accessible lens…not just some mere artistic stance. a practical application of an initial step towards a new sweden, but in return, it got stigmatized and banned in multiple areas, and as we know, censorship is deemed when there’s truth around; an overly multifaceted film that needs constant attention and reward, but through its political conversations and angst, one thing is and always will be clear; the average, everyday person has had it. just this conversational exchange won my heart between the main girl and an unsuspecting, real-life, regular cook.
is there a class system in sweden?
it depends on the people. undress them and they’re all alike. dress them, and you have a class system.
