Beyond Mon Once’s antics and slapstick shenanigans (which are tastefully done), lies a social economic lesson crafted by Tati that transcends decades and generations. Boring wealthy people will do everything within their budget and social circles to appear like eccentric people, but want nothing to do with the community that corresponds with the actual eccentrics. Flashy gadgets, unusual furniture and colorful cars ornate their lives, but exclude building a community with people less fortunate than themselves. Fences are built; the perimeter is secured and monitored to keep those people out. God forbid, the commoner could look inside their empty vain homes. Oh, and the movie is incredibly hilarious.
