I've grown very fond of Josh O'Connor recently, so I thought God's Own Country might be a good watch, and I was right. On starting the film I was resolved to a sad ending because of the bleak colour grading (though that's just England on the reg) and quiet music, but I was all for the happy resolution between the two main characters, played by O'Connor and Alec Secăreanu. The story was really nice, although I found that the pacing in the beginning was a tad slow, and I liked how the dynamic between Gheorghe and Johnny gradually progressed. There were some gorgeous shots of the West Yorkshire countryside, and I thought everyone in the cast did a fantastic job. A great film, overall, and now I want to live on a farm.
