Very sweet and deeply melancholic. Robert Donat is wonderful as the shy aging schoolteacher, managing to sneak out an Oscar win in an incredibly competitive year.

Robert Donat does a great job as the title Mr Chips; through a bunch of make up, throughout his whole adult life. He makes Chips intriguing to watch and follow well though there isn’t many amazing moments as while it is a very well done movie.
