I went into this completely blind and was so pleasantly surprised. It felt like a looney tunes cartoon with the best most fast talking writing that was inducing belly laughs. The whole crowd dug this up. The standout performance was definitely the dad, who always kicked down the door grabbing everyone by their collar and tripping on his ass. The subject matter is very risqué for the time and feels so free flowing, like anything could happen, and that’s how it was written as well. They started shooting with only 30 pages and Sturges had to stay up late and write the next days work. Talk about writing in stone. Sturges is a very slept on director.
