I think I was just in the mood for pandemic/natural disaster genres in 2021, especially post-covid and still not free from the suffocating mask. Needless to say, these movies weren't the same, for damn sure. I mean, the symbolism of survival and being desperate to live is just raw and profound. It has that intensifying build-up of urge to save or be saved, being selfish or not, wanting to be selfless or not. I think it was definitely felt through Kim Namgil's character at the latter part of the movie.
Despite that, the execution of this concept was really dull and draggy. Not implying that it needs to exciting and fast-paced, but it needed way more emotional impact for such a premise.
