On a thematic level it’s a feature length , extended version of the Club Silencio scene … so it being genius … is merely a given .
Any invitation into the labyrinth— that is the subconscious of Orson Welles , is a treat— but when it has an instantly identifiable Michel Legrand score accompanying it , throughout the entirety … you know you’re in for something magical .
I don’t want to go into much detail , I believe it’s up to y’all to see this yourself . But I look forward to unpacking even more from this with future viewings . **You can’t grasp it all with one viewing— especially with Welles’ madman style of experimental editing ( that I already love ) suffocating the room your mind has to wander .

Having known a lot about Orson Welles as a person before seeing any of his films— I feel like this is enhanced by a bizarre amount , and as a result honestly glad I started with this one … even though I wouldn’t recommend that . Proud I’ve waited this long without seeing
Citizen Kane too , will only be elevated after all this time .
