didn’t realize this was an ad for the brontë parsonage museum (which i am visiting in a month yay!!!) but i do love seeing the brontë sisters brought to life so beautifully and, according to record, accurately. using branwell as a framing device isn’t the best, he’s very tragic and i feel awful for him but the focus should be on the sisters’ genius. i do love emily’s characterization in this, her surliness and complete avoidance of socialization of any kind combined with her keen observance and immense talent captivated me. she seemed like such an interesting person and i sense some of her own personality is present in heathcliff’s. but charlotte was my namesake and jane eyre changed my life when i read it at ten years old so she will always be my favorite. i’m working on reading anne’s novels before i visit the parsonage. god bless the brontës

Todo lo que Emily (2022) tiene de pop, esta lo tiene de rigor histórico. Pero con simbolismo, con epifanía, con la poesía justa para no perder la crudeza. El balance ideal de misticismo y realismo.
