This could have been a great movie. Good concept and an opportunity to really explore the prison of being a thankless housewife. Instead, the tone was confusing and I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to find it funny, disturbing, or something in between. The pace made me feel incredibly anxious, but not in the way I might enjoy if I were watching a true thriller. I ultimately didn’t finish the movie; behind all the flaws it didn’t draw me in enough to care about how it ends. I think if I watched this with friends I may have gotten more enjoyment out of it, because we would be reacting and talking through it together, but watching alone on a Friday night, I felt I could spend my time in a better way. If you have time to kill and you’re in the mood for something odd, go for it. But if you’re looking for a strong criticism or analysis of womanhood, there are much better films out there who flesh it out more effectively.
