1) probably would’ve worked better if fred astaire were like 10 years younger 2) the dance numbers & songs were pretty boring unfortunately, no super showstopping numbers i could point to and be like yeah that’s iconic3) caveat to the previous point: most interesting number was the rock roll ritz number which i can’t decide if i liked or hated—sign of the times number and (but?) fred astaire is so firmly 1930s coded i’m still not sure it worked—kind of compelling though4) kind of felt like the last gasp of the studio musical 5) peter lorre, my king
