❝The Rajput women are as much warriors as Rajput men.❞
❝Even the goddess had to descend from her abode to slay the demons.❞

Padmaavat isn't quite as good as I remember it being when I first watched it years ago, but it's still opulent and fitting of the historical epic genre it's classed under. While the story itself suffers from weak writing more than a couple of times, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand aesthetic certainly makes this film easy on the eyes, from the beautiful costumes to the magnificent sets. The colour palette used is so rich and decadent, and visually this is just as gorgeous as his other films. Acting-wise, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh gave great performances, but Shahid Kapoor was a bad choice for the role of Ratan Singh, and he had all the charisma of a wooden spoon. Overall, I think this definitely worth watching if you love historical films, but I personally wouldn't rewatch it on my own again.
