The story of a family of Quakers in Indiana in 1862. Their religious sect is strongly opposed to violence and war. It's not easy for them to meet the rules of their religion in everyday life but when Southern troops pass the area they are in real trouble. Should they fight, despite their peaceful attitude?

Whateva happened to Gary Cooper, the strong silent type

—Tony Soprano

Very homely vibes, a film about a completely different era and a different country but the vibes were strong with this one. Fun but also tries to talk about human psyche when faced with the heavy choice of war. The main family are a group of quakers who believe in non violence and completely believe in god's will. When the rebels come and loot and kill, they are ready to die but not fight if it's in god's will because it's against their ideals. Very interesting to see how the events happen around this issue.

A pretty good movie on spirituality that works ok. The performances are for the most part good, my favorite being Perkins. The plot is at times moving and interesting and at others clunky and fine. Worth a watch
