I have been watching this movie religously since my teenager years. As i am moving through out my twenties, I have coming to the reality that I will soon stop finding this movie entertaining but painfully relatable.
Jessica James is raw character, because she has a robust sense of self but still life does not go the way she envisons. You really see her battle with the fact that you can have all of the confidence in the world, and the world does not own you anything. Jessica never succumbs to the sadness of every day failures but continues to move foward, which is all you can do. I find that message, though not explict, inspiring and motivating.
This movie falls into a type of media I enjoy greatly, 21st Centery Millennial media. Media that center comedians and the trials an tribulations of daily life. Though mudane in terms of content, entertaining in regards to the scope of the character.
I believe Jessica James, Issa Dee and Tracey from Chewing Gum exsist int he same universe. Jessica is quirky, Issa is akward and Tracey is peculiar.
