A film like this is really difficult to rate for me. I’ve studied this era of history endlessly and by god is it inaccurate. That’s not actually the films fault but actually Shakespeares. Therefore I don’t feel like I can endlessly nitpick because it’s actually not the films fault. In terms of the film itself, it’s really great. I was skeptical prior to watching it over Laurence Olivier as a director but he honestly does a fabulous job. His performance is also beyond special and the film looks so good. The practical sets are so beautiful and the moments where the score comes in are really great. For 1955, this film is so impressive and has so many classical Hollywood tropes that I always love. Definitely going to have to dive into Olivier’s filmography after this!!!

lo mejor es la primera parte, se alarga harto sobre todo con la política de la situación. me dolió la cabeza siguiendo a tantos personajes, pero en los monólogos es donde brilla realmente el richard.

Casi tres horas de una actuación magistral de Laurence Olivier, la manera en la que recita sus líneas es algo que nunca voy a olvidar y he de admitir que pienso en la escenas de Anne y Richard más de lo que debería. De cualquier manera, ¿Se supone que tendría que haber encontrado a este Richard vomitivo y horroroso? Porque no lo hice, de hecho, dije that's hot más veces de las que estoy dispuesta a admitir.

Certainly, a complicated Watch, but well worth it. It delivers an exquisite story, with the ability to delight anyone. A great adaptation with a distinct theatrical tone and a daring staging, that, at a slow pace, builds a solid plot. Great sets, good costumes, and pretty decent performances.

Although it has aged a bit poorly, we mustn't forget that it’s from no more and no less than 70 years ago. The technicolor is glorious and gives it a superb quality.

Even with a lot of fat trimmed, Richard III still feels like ten years. I’m not sure what I was thinking in picking this to watch, especially considering that I don’t like the source material very much. I guess that’s not the movie’s fault, but man this story’s characters are just not very interesting or compelling. Thing looks great though, amazing colors and wides. Whole movie just bleeds old period-film excess in a very fun and charming way. Idk kind of just a mixed bag I guess— a mostly well made and mostly well acted movie suffering from issues that are hundreds of years old.
