Was worried that this would strike a chord with me on a personal level but can happily report that I felt very little! The emotional climax ESPECIALLY felt underwhelming, 100% in part to the leading lady’s performance. Also, couldn’t STAND the music. So much of it was distracting and intrusive or just bad, shoutout to the first song.

It was funny and cute, I just wish it was longer or better developed. There was some unfulfilled potential but the base for the story was there.

i should love everything about this movie, queer women of color, zero white men, cute jokes, complicated mother-daughter relationships… but ultimately the writing just wasn’t for me? just felt very weirdly paced.
