I liked it. But John Arcilla’s character’s death wasn’t enough to feed my anger. 

That ending though screamed FUCK YOU toward the corrupt cops and government!!

BIRDSHOT is inspired by the 2008 shooting incident of the Phillipine eagle by a Bukidnon farmer in Mt. Kitanglad and the horrifying 2009 Maguindanao massacre. Despite drawing heavily from real life, the filmmakers have somehow managed to infused commentary through a dual narrative via our 10/11 year old protaganist and a (somewhat) moralistic police officer. It’s a slow burn film that doesn’t exactly come with high stakes until the final act, but I think BIRDSHOT was primarily written to intrigue. The final scene — genuine terror.

breathtaking cinematography. plot threads could’ve been weaved together better. i wish this film did smth truly special with its premise but it ends up just being another filipino film about corruption.
