Pretty awful...
I guess I haven't really seen one of these "ensemble cast" MGM musicals before, but I was expecting a bit more plot, given that it's in the structure of a biopic. Unfortunately, the sections outside of the musical numbers were extremely dull. I didn't really understand why they had Mickey Rooney complaining about his height so much until I found out that the character was in the closet and MGM changed his self-loathing to be about his height alone. Judy was electric in her part, but given the poster, I expected her to appear more than 5 minutes. Lots of talented performers pop up here and there, but the musical numbers weren't particularly memorable, though fairly entertaining when they'd occur.
