everybody gangsta till they pull out the dog imagery! this was not even imagery it was just a straight up dog but i still couldn’t be gangsta😢
i need to read this book and i need to watch a video essay after i read. closest comparison in my mind to the feeling of this is when they give someone surgery and their body rejects the new part given to them. is the rejection for the better or for the worse? how hard should people work to add parts to themselves that simply don’t belong there? this is veryyy nature v nurture debate imo cause maybe if sharikov wasn’t a stray dog, and instead a domesticated house pet, he would’ve been less animalistic after he’s transformed into a human. but would he have been better that way? it wouldn’t have been his inherent nature. it would’ve been artificial, with any humane moral awareness he would have being imposed instead of intrinsic. and if it’s not intrinsic, does it even count?
i don’t think i make sense when i say things like this but this was good and got me thinking and all that👍
