Don't usually watch movies this old, kind of interesting to see the film and dialogue style. But performances in these old movies feel too stiff and formal to me, so it felt less real and emotional.
Comparing to the 2002 version, which is the only other one I saw, I liked that this one followed the book closer. But there's too much in the book for one movie, so sometimes the pacing was off. Even though in the 2002 version, it felt like they made it more of an action movie, it flowed better on the screen.
Still I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would and interesting to see a different take. I liked this more gentlemanly Monte Cristo.
