Joan is simply amazing here and so is Edward Arnold but I wasn’t too fond of the other two love interests (including Franchot Tone who was by then Joan’s husband, I believe). The story also suffers the ending of a lot of classic movies during that period, the resolution is too rushed. One of the love interests dies and she makes peace with the other all in approximately 5 minutes. Either way I liked this for Joan’s charismatic performance and the Adrian wardrobe, although I prefer the gowns featured in Letty Lynton and Possessed (1931).
