This is definitely B-list Godzilla, right down to the monster’s roar, which is nearly identical, but slightly worse. No explanation for for why this dinosaur is still alive, why it’s seemingly invincible, or how it got to be kaiju size. They could have at least thrown in a “radiation from the bombs must have mutated it” line, but they seem content with it just being a regular dinosaur.
The one part that is cool is that when Varan suddenly extends his flaps and soars into the sky. He’s actually a pretty good Kaiju design, and I wish they had made more of an effort to make him distinct. Maybe then he could have popped up in GMK: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack instead of Baragon.
There it is, I want to make these lower rent Godzilla reviews as alienating as possible and I nailed it with the Baragon trivia. That’s another one for the books!
