john barrymore when i catch you
so close to 5 stars but i didn’t really like most of the songs (how was this nominated for best score). there’s even a whole song about ham and eggs.
however, everything else is absolute perfection, the costumes were GORGEOUS and the last scene did bring a tear to my eye.

"You wish to be set free?"
Thinking about that one quote from The Petrified Forest
"I met you too late"
I love operas. I miss going to the opera. This movie is the cure for it. Whenever I miss it I'll rewatch this

A love that blooms, fades, and lingers like a forgotten melody. Maytime reminds us that time may pass, but some hearts remain frozen in the past.
“I shall always love you… even if it’s only in silence.”
It’s the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t cry out it sings.
