About what you'd expect from a big-budget MGM Irving Thalberg passion project Shakespeare adaptation. Extravagant sets exquisitely filmed, with strong actors that are still nonetheless bizarrely miscast. It's a little dry and a very straightforward adaptation, which is fine because the work is inherently good, but in the grand pantheon of Shakespearean film versions this is not the most interesting to seek out. I'm more of a West Side Story fanboy anyway. Did appreciate the inclusion of the Tchaikovsky score though.
