So so good. No dull moments.
Rajkummar Rao is fantastic, and the cast around him is equally stellar. Special mention to Pankaj Tripathi and the legend Raghubir Yadav. Sanjay Mishra is also super effective in his limited special appearance.
The story, screenplay pacing and the raw rustic feel of shooting in real locations all come together beautifully. A superb depiction of the state of politics and voting in this country. Such an effective satire that captures the essence of Indian politics while keeping you thoroughly entertained with the banter between characters. The film always knows exactly what emotion it wants from you and at what point, and it delivers every single time without ever letting the screenplay slip. Every character is utilised well, not a single one feels like a fluff piece.
I wish films like this were still being made today, but that is just me being hopeful. We both know we are unlikely to see something like this in 2026.

How far can a by-the-book chum like Newton go to uphold the system in a place that either tends to bypass it (army) or tends to be oblivious to the existence of one (tribals). Newton showcases a political satire with dark and deadpan comedy that makes this ride a fun and watchable one. Rajkummar Rao shines his way through yet again but imo Pankaj Tripathi and Raghubir Yadav were the show stealers.
