My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done
Werner Herzog, David Lynch, Michael Shannon, Chloe Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Udo Kier, and Brad Dourif! I mean, how could I resist?I have yet to see Herzog's Fitzcarraldo, but I've seen My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done; I have standards. This movie is a weird, off-kilter, dark, surrealist crime comedy that was thoroughly entertaining throughout its 91-minute runtime. There are so many questionable moments of acting, with Michael Shannon delivering the most Michael Shannon performance of all time. The digital cinematography looks very ugly (but honestly, it kind of fits), and there are times when some of its ridiculousness felt just for the sake of it, but this was extremely interesting, with the main character being genuinely well written. I would definitely recommend this to somebody, because this is the most I've consistently laughed out loud at a movie (mainly at Michael Shannon's delivery and the extended awkward takes).
