Human Nature
a comedy, but it's sad.

one of Kaufman's most literal and unhinged films, blunt and unsophisticated. yet, I love everything my man writes.
and I do like contemplations of what makes us human, different from animals. nature versus civilization and all that.
I love nature. As long as it stays in the zoo where it belongs.

it's a wild, feral film with some very strange and disturbing plot points. I suppose it was meant to be like that…
the idea of the destructive power of childhood traumas goes hand in hand with self-deception and self-transformation in relationships with others, wrapped in thoughts about what happiness is. and of course, sex is the driving force of everything.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Human Nature
This did not really live up to Kaufmans reputation after Being John Malkovich. The dialogue, themes and plot is not as interesting as Kaufmans other films, its has a great cast and i think out of all actors Rhys Ifans does the best job in this movie. pretty mediocre movie over-all, it did have some funny scenes with physical comedy though.

A messy film that has plenty of great moments within it. It's crazy to think that only a few years later, Kaufman and Gondry went on to create one of my favorite films of all time.
